washing machine drain problem?
sears machine will fill up and agitate but will not drain or cycle. This is a top loader
admin answers:
Your dial and switch has gone out. Try moving the dial manually to initiate a drain and spin cycle. If this works, then good for now. The dial switch will need to be replaced. Top load washers work on a gravity fill system. If the washer will not drain, pull the washer out and remove the drain hose from the drain. Have a bucket handy or a floor drain there. Lower the hose, the washer will drain. Lift the hose to stop the draining.

David asks…
can you drain your washing machine water in to a yard drain?
I want to hook up my washing machine to a drain that that flows to the street , not wanting to over tax septic system.
Is it code?
admin answers:
Are you adding a washing machine, where there was not one previously? If not, why are you wanting to change where it drains to?
The answer to your code question is NO. You cannot drain your laundry to the street or a ditch. It must go to the septic system.
You need to maintain your septic system properly by pumping it out regularly. Http://ohioline.osu.edu/aex-fact/0740.html will tell you how often.
Ultimately the less water that goes to your septic system, the better it will work. If you’re planning on buying a new washing machine, get one of the front loaders or new high efficiency machines.
Here’s some good septic system maintenance info http://www.inspect-ny.com/septbook.htm

washing machine not draining.. senser for top?
i used to have to push hard on the top of the lid by the sensor that tells the machine whether the top is down or not.. now pushin it isnt working.. i tried using something to hold that down./.. not working.. any ideas? kenmore
admin answers:
There is a lid switch which tells the timer the lid is closed and it’s ok to spin. The switch is either defective or the actuator arm on the switch needs adjustment. You usually have to raise the top of the washer to gain access to the switch.

Samsung washing machine not draining… Help please!?
Have let water out through drainage hose, and then opened turn cap filter – but nothing blocking it. Where else do I look?
I remember this happened a few years ago with a different W/M and repair guy found a sock, but I remember he was looking in some compartment that was on the underside of the W/M.
Behind the front panel, I only have the small discharge tube and the round filter. Where else should I look on a Samsung to see if something’s clogging it up? By the way, the W/M is still able to spin, as when I drained the water it spun fine, problem is the draining – clothes were mucky when spin had stopped.
Really trying to avoid repair man (££), THANKYOU!
Model is P1253 (6 kg)
I refer to drainage tube/discharge tube behind front panel, and the filter trap behind front panel – those are the only places I looked.
admin answers:
You need to get under the machine and take off the hose that goes between the filter and the bottom of the drum, the blockage is probably in there.

John asks…
My toilet bubles when any other item in the house is draining ie; dishwasher, tub, washing machine etc. Help.
sometimes with this problem the toilet will bubble and there will be water that backs up into the tub. All the sinks drain very slow. I’m not sure if there is a air flow problem or a major clogg or both. Please help if you can.
admin answers:
You either have a clog or your vent pipe is plugged up time to call a pro in to fix the problem.

Mark asks…
Washing machine?
I have a Inglis”superb plus” top-loading Canadian -made washing machine. It is ca. 6 years old(came with the house).
I washed two cotton floor mats in the machine. The water drained out as usual. During the next wash, the water could not be drained. I manually drained the water by removing the hoses. It worked. I put the hoses in place, put in a small load , but the machine started to make cracking/grinding noises.
My theory is that pieces from the fluffy cotton mats are embedded in the system.
admin answers:
Check the pump – it’s probably jammed or the filter is blocked.
You will have to turn it on it’s side to get to it.

My Hotpoint Aquarius WMA58 washing machine is not draining water. Help please!?
Warranty has expired and the pump was replaced in January for a different fault. We cannot afford an engineer to come and repair it, nor can we really afford a new machine. I know nothing about washing machines, so, detailed answers would be helpful.
NO ANSWERS SAYING BUY A NEW MACHINE! That’s our last option as we can’t afford it even on credit.
admin answers:
If an engineer replaced the pump in January 2010 it might be a problem with something he has done, even if the work is not officially guaranteed he has a moral responsibility and should come and fix it at no charge. Phone him, be nice.
